Alhamdulillah based on this learning, I got a lot of knowledge about assessment and case conceptualization. I learned the five main points in this topic that are about assessment, purpose of assessment, assessment methods, case conceptualization and pyramid steps. This video is very useful for us as a counseling student to apply it in the future. In this video, there is something that caught my attention which is about the example of Diana's cases. From her cases, I can understand clearly about how to conceptualize the cases by using a clinical thought of process that involves three theoretical or conceptual elements that are evaluation, organization and orientation.

I can conclude that, from this week lesson, I got a lot of information on assessment and case conceptualization. From this lesson, I have got a clear explaination from on what is assessment in counseling, the purpose of assessment, assessment methods, case conceptualization and pyramid step. In earlier of this lesson, I got blurred on how the conceptualization will helps in an effective counseling session. However, when Dr was including example in each steps or process, it was helping to understand more on applying this step or process when I become a counselor soon. I hope from this lesson, I can practise and apply it well in the future.Thus, indirectly, it will help me in enhancing my counseling skills and apply appropriate theory according to the client problem.

Bismillah, Assalamualaikum Dr. What and interesting opening of the video. There is a lot of information that I gain from your explanation video about the assessment and case conceptualization. For the assessment, I can understand better the true definition ot the terms. There are four purpose of assessment which is screening, diagnosis, treatment planning & goal identification and progress evaluation. There are so many assessment method that you mention in the video and three of them is test, observation and performance assessment. What I interested in this topic is that you mention about the Mental Status Evaluation where there are 3 indicators that it count which is appearance and behavior, emotion state and also thinking component (cognitive). You also mention about the case study on how a teacher can solve a problematic students by consulted other teacher and also talk to the parents.
For the case conceptualization, Dr Rashid also mention about the definition which is the process of understand client's story or issues based on theoretical approach. There are also three steps of conceptual element which is evaluation where we as counselor observe, evaluate and measure client's behavioral thoughts, feeling and physiological features. The second step is organization where counselor do the observation, assessment, evaluation to look for the theme and pola in client's issues. The last one is orientation where counselor need to interpret the theme and pola of the client's problem theoretically. Dr also state about the pyramid step of conceptualization where the highest level is identifying the problem, group based on theme, theoretical assumptions and the lowest level is focus on the assumption which is the last step.

The formula that really attract me in case conceptualization is:
EVALUATION + ORGANIZATION + ORIENTATION = TREATMENT PLANNING.

For this week, Dr Rashid teach us about " Assessment and case conceptualization". Firstly, what I get from this topic was I got to know the definition of assessment ( the process which we evaluate and measures what the client said to us)and case conceptualization. So when we fully understand what the client said, we actually can conceptualize the client's own issue. Secondly, I get to know that there are various assessment that a counsellor can use such as, rating scale, survey, observation, test, questionnares and others. When we, as a counselor use these various of assessment method, we can actually gathering more information about the clients issue and easier for us to know the pattern of issue that our client faced. Thirdly, is about the case conceptualization or known as "case formulation". Case conceptualization is the situation when we have fully understanding what the client issue and we relate it with the theoretical approach (means from psychological, biological and social perspective) . Case conceptualization is very important for the counselor because we can get to explore and synthesize what is the issue actually that are facing by our client. Fourth, there are three theoretical elements that include in the case conceptualization ( evaluation, organization and orientation). Fifth, is the pyramid step introduced by Switchzer that provided 4 specific steps :
1st step: Identifying the problem.
2nd: Group based on the pattern or themes
3rd: Theoretical Assumption
4rd: Focus on assumption.
What is the interesting in this chapter/topic for me it assist me to reduce my nervousness infront of my client. As a counselor to be, I admit that I may be feel some difficulties to face with the client, so when I learned this chapter, I get to know the tips on how to make exploration on my client's issue and assist them to solve or manage their problem.

I can conclude that, assessment is a process that integrates test the information from the client sources. For example is information from test and the individual social. The assessment is most important to help gained the client information espcially in the early stages. This is because the assessment can used to anylze, identify, evaluate and address the problem or issues and circumstances of clients. From this video, we learnt that assessment is the merge of information from the test with information from other sources. Assessment helps the counselor to identify the clients' issues to plan intervention for them. It is also to evaluate the clients' progress as time goes by. Case conceptualization, on the other hand, is the process of understanding and defining the clients' issues theoretically, and also defining it from other perspectives such as, psychologically, biologically, and more. To conceptualize a case, the counselor has to evaluate the client by assessing his/her observable behavior. Then, the counselor will need to organize and group the issues into themes such as, relationship issues or economical issues. Next, the issues grouped earlier would be interpreted in the orientation stage. The theme would be matched with a suitable theory to be applied into the treatment planning for the client himself/herself. All in all, this lesson was quite interesting, and the use of case illustrations as examples really helped me in understanding more on assessment and case conceptualization. The key points I want to highlight are assessment definition, purpose assessment, assessment methods, case illustration, case conceptualization, the pyramid step, and finally, Dr. discusses the case illustration example and how to solve the problems by applying the three conceptual theoretical elements. The theoretical case is evaluation, organizations, and orientation. It is really important to help us identify and understand the issues or problems of clients in these three stages of conceptualizing the case. When I read it again about the step in the pyramid. I realize that three elements conceptualizing the situation, has the same steps of the pyramid. . Step one, define the issues, seconds, theme-based group, and third theoretical assumption are present. In providing the examples and clear descriptions that help me understand these topics very well, Dr briefs its very detail. In my view, this assessment is associated with a case of conceptualization because the evaluation allows the counselor to gather information related to the client’s problem. In this week lecture I learned a lot especially in five points that have been explained which is the exact definition of assessment in counseling, the methods that can be use in the session, the purposes, the importance of case conceptualization and the elements that need to conceptualize the cases. Assessment is about to gather information with information. In order to get information, it can be gather by doing inventories, questionnaire, survey so on and so forth. I want to highlight here about 2 techniques that have been explained by Dr about the case conceptualization, the first technique about the evaluation, organization and orientation. And the second technique by (Schwitzer, 1996), the use of pyramid step. There were 4 steps in pyramid step, the first step identify the problem, second step group based in theme, third step theoretical assumptions and the fourth step focus on assumptions. The process of case conceptualization also is used to address, reduce, administer or solve the client’s problem through planning to solve the problem. Dr also provided the example case illustration, it is very helpful to make me more understand to apply this step in counseling session soon. Next, DR also has discussed about the pyramid step of conceptualization where the first level is identifying the problem, second is a group based on the theme, third is theoretical assumptions and the last level is focused on the assumption. First of all for the assessment, this terms means the process which we evaluate and measures what the client said to us. Therefore, as we understand what the client said clearly, we will learn on how to conceptualize the client's issue. Besides, there has some assessment method that you mentioned in the video and several of them is test, rating scale, portfolios, observation, performance assessment and others. When the counsellor use the assessment, the counsellor can collect more information and data about the client’s issues. Furthermore, this chapter is about the case conceptualization or case formulation. Case conceptualization or case formulation is the situation when we apparently understanding on the correlation between the client’s issue and can relate it with. Then, there are three theoretical or conceptual elements that included in the case conceptualization evaluation, organization and orientation. Based on Drummond & Jones (2010), state that by collecting client data from various sources, using a combination of formal and informal techniques, counselors are able to formulate a more comprehensive and accurate understanding of the client and his or her reason for presenting for counseling services. The purpose of assessment is for screening, diagnosis, treatment planning and goal identification, and progress evaluation. A counselor may start the assessment process at the early stages, or maybe in the exploration stages. Also used to identify the problem, plan the intervention, make an evaluation and diagnose client in early stage. Many methods can be done by a counselor to do the assessment with client. In my understanding assessment is a process that integrates test information with information from other resources by collecting data from the clients and the method use such as test, questionnaires, inventories, survey and others. While case conseptualization is understanding of the clients problem as viewed through particular theoretical. From that the counselor can analysis tha information given by clients. Thank you Dr for explanations, what I got from this video is about assessment and conceptualization. Firstly I learned that assessment is a process that integrates test information from other sources. Assessment can help the counselor to identify and collect the client data easily. Secondly, the purpose of assessment is to screening, diagnosis, treatment planning, and goal identification, and progress evaluation. Thirdly, the method of assessment can be formal or informal, tests, questionnaires, inventories, observations, rating scales, portfolios, surveys/interviews, observation, and others. Next, case conceptualization is called case information and is the process of an understanding of the client's problem through theoretical approaches such as the biological, psychological, and social context of the client. There are three theoretical or conceptual elements evaluation, organization, and orientation. Lastly, the pyramid step has a four-step: identify the problem, group based on theme, theoretical assumptions, and focus on assumptions. Thank you, Dr Rashid.

Alhamdulillah, I had already watching a new video for the topic of Assessment & Conceptualization. For the whole of the video, it is showed about the important to assess our client first for detecting the actual issues that they faced it. The instrument or assessment that Counselor will used must be followed the types of issues stated. Such the client having issue about the chosen of a career, they were provided to sit in career inventory. Other segment in this topic, I had learned about the conceptualization. In short, Conceptualization help Counselor to define or describe the issues of the client in biological, psychological etc. This topic taught me more about the methodology to asses and conceptualize, the process of case conceptualize and other terms that needed to use in the Counseling Session. Exciting watched the video, thanks a lot Dr. May Allah giving you a good health and take care Dr. Wallahualam.

Alhamdulilah, I had watched the video the topic Assessment and Conceptualizatio. The opening video is very interesting and make me feel enjoy the continuous learning in the video. There are 3 important conceptualization elements in process counseling session.

- Evaluation ( We can evaluate the emotion, behaviour, cognitive and all aspects about the client to make counseling session effectively)

- Organization ( Can know the theme or patten client's issues, and differentiate between key information and ancilllary information.

- Orientation ( Interperate and can apply the suitable theory based on issues by clients)

This topic teach me to be a better counselor outcome. As counselor, we must know how to control emotion and always practice this in our life.

For assessment, there are four purpose of assessment which is 1. screening, 2. diagnosis, 3. treatment planning and 4. goal identification and progress evaluation. And for case conceptualization, there are three important key. It is 1. Evaluation (to know client's behavior,cognitive,Emotion), 2. Organization ( choose the theme/factors to the client issues), 3. Orientation (use the theory based on the client's issues). That is all I got from the video. Thank you.

Assalam alaikum Dr, the interesting thing about video is that, there is a lot of information given, that I gained from the topic through your explanation for assessment and case conceptualisation, from the assessment definition i understand it better what the term means.there are 4 elements of assessment such diagnosis screaming treatment planning and identification of goal and evaluation.
For the case conceptualisation Dr, also mentioned about the definition which is the process of understand client issue based on theory approach.and you forther mention about the 3 steps of conceptual elements such as evaluation which is behaviour cognitive psychological.. organisation is the measure assessment or observe, orientation is the theme that interprete to theory and clinical approach and pyramid is to identify the problem, group based on theme and lowest level is focus on the assumption.

Thank you for the explanation in this study which is entitled Assessment & Case Conceptualization. Generally, an assessment or measure to assess or identify a client's problem. It is intended for screening, diagnosis, treatment planning, and goal identification, and progress evaluation. Then there are various assessments used such as test, rating scale, observation, questionnaire, portfolios, checklist, inventory, by surveying or interviewing and performance assessment. While Case Conceptualization or other name case formulation is a process to understand the client's problem based on particular theoretical orientations such as biological, psychological, and social contexts of the client. Hereby, the counselor will better understand the client by knowing the course of the story or the problem. In addition, there are also 3 conceptual elements in a clinical thought process, namely evaluation, organization, and orientation as well as the pyramid step which brings 4 steps in it. Case conceptualize is the process that the counselor can understand the client. Collective problems in theories approach. Theoretical elements in case conceptualize, it is evaluation (behavioral, cognitive, psychological), organization (observe or measure assessment), and orientation (theme that interpret to theory or clinical). Lastly, the pyramid steps by Switchzer. It is identify the problem, group based on theme or patterns, theoretical assumptions and focus on assumptions.
